month: May 2011

There are just a few things in life that give one true joy.  I experienced it in my younger years as a watched my daughter, Heather, every year in her dance recital.  That was one event I never wanted to miss.  To watch her progress from a stumbling little girl as she learned the steps into a prolific sweet dancer as the years went by was captivating.  When she graduated college, married, and began a family of her own I thought those precious days were behind me.  Oh, how wrong I was!  She and her husband have brought into this world 4 wonderful children, two of whom are girls who are now carrying on the tradition of dance.  The joy is back!  This past weekend both girls performed on the stage at the McAllister Auditorium for the dance recital of The Performing Arts Ballet Studio.  It was pure bliss to watch the two of them perform.  It was Caroline’s first, and Joy’s 6th.  Although they are world’s apart in their skill level, it did not matter to me.  Each girl gave me a thrill.  This day in the spring is one I look forward to each year.  Please indulge me as I post a few of my favorites.

The weekend could not have been more wonderful nor more beautiful as Blaire and JR exchanged their vows at one of the most exquisite hill country ranches I have seen. Nearly 500 hundred guests were not only witnesses to a romantic outdoor wedding under a majestic oak, they were also treated to one heck of a celebration party. One of Dallas’ finest bands, Emerald City Band, rocked the house all night long and then led all the guests to the helicopter pad to send them off into the night skies.

A special thanks goes to all who helped make this day special.

Elizabeth Harris of Elizabeth Harris Event Design Elizabeth and her team took care of all of the planning and organizing this great wedding. Thank you Elizabeth!!!
Infinity Video Tomas and I have worked together seamlessly countless times and I am sure when you see the video you will be thrilled.

Sterling Affairs Catering I have not had the pleasure of working with this group before, but their presentation was as spectacular as the taste of the food.

The Last Petal A wonderful hill country florist that added the perfect touch of romance to the day.
The Gospel Allstars This group of 10 gospel singers from Austin surprised us all as they led Blaire down the aisle to “Oh Happy Day!”
Marquee Rentals The wonderful tenting is credited to this special company from Austin.
Cakes by Cathy Of course my most favorite cake baker of all time (no web site for her) created the delicious wedding cake.
Sophie’s Choice Bakery From Fredricksburg, this bakery did a spectacular job on JR’s cake with the theme “When Pigs Fly.”

I hope you all enjoy a few of the images from this wedding.  If you are inclined to want to look at all of the images just click this link:  David Sixt Photography

The Hyatt Hill Country Resort always provides a stellar background for a wedding.  Karen and Michael celebrated their vows before family and very close friends on the last weekend of April.  The weather was wonderful and the wedding could not have been more beautiful.  Diana Boucher of “I Do Wedding Consulting” orchestrated every detail to a T.  We can always count on her to keep things running smoothly.  It makes the job of a photographer much less stressful.  Of course the staff and the food at the Hyatt always are top notch.  Deanna Zuber and her team never disappoint. Ceremony music was provided by Allegretto Music. After a wonderful seated dinner, wedding cake by Cathy Young was served to an awaiting crowd.  Of course we have to thank Wallace Vaughn of Jude’s Flowers for all of the beautiful bouquets and table arrangements.  Lastly, the guests were treated to fabulous dance music by the ever entertaining Sauce the Band of Austin.

I hope you enjoy a glimpse into this fabulous wedding.  I love it when couples decide to see each other prior to the wedding.  It is always such a romantic time for them.  To view all Karen and Michael’s images click this LINK.

What a time I had last week with Rachel and Santiago! This is one very special couple from the Big Apple with South Texas connections. They are getting married next year and will be using two wonderful venues-Incarnate Word Motherhouse Chapel and the Westin Riverwalk.
Working with them was a real treat for me. They were naturals in front of my camera to which the images will attest . They are truly in love. Santiago is a true romantic, which, I imagine, is one of the reasons Rachel responds so well to him. Her gorgeous eyes and “cute” dimples give Rachel that special attraction that make for stellar images. I hope you enjoy the images and feel the love that they embody.

Marisela and Michael were married in front of the fountain at the McNay Art Museum on April 23, 2011. The weather was almost as beautiful as Marisela as several hundred guests witnessed their sacred exchange of vows. Afterwards Gloria and her museum staff saw that all of those attending the wedding were escorted to the courtyard inside the museum where the cocktail hour was held. After being introduced as husband and wife Marisela and Michael enjoyed a seated dinner served by the impeccable catering staff of Don Strange. Phillip Chancellor as DJ kept the music timely and upbeat. The fabulous floral arrangements can be attributed to Henry Deleon Floral Art.   The crowd danced the night away to a wide selection of wonderful tunes, from the classic to the current. There was something for everyone. I hope you enjoy the images below and as always if you want to see all of the photographs they are just a “Click” away.
