month: October 2009

As a recent West Point grad, Dave received orders that he was going to Afghanistan in December. He and Carolyn had be dating for 8 years. They were going to have a large wedding but military orders changed their plans, so they gathered Carolyn’s parents, and a few other family members and headed south to Pinehurst from New York for a quick wedding. Nancy and I were killing time waiting for our dinner reservations when we came upon this family wedding and noticed they did not have a photographer, so we offered our services. Unfortunately we had missed the wedding ceremony but were able to capture a few images for them to remember their wedding day. It was the least we could do for a couple whose career will be to protect and defend our nation. It was a true honor for us.

We had a great time with Tara and Clayton Friday evening doing their engagement photographs.   They are getting married in Houston next year and I am sure the wedding is going to be one for the ages!  They are a great couple and are extremely photogenic, although rumor has it they don’t think so  :)  Let them know what you think!  Feel free to comment below.  Enjoy the images and check out all of their photographs at this link.

The Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria was the site of the beautiful wedding of Katya and Eric this past Saturday. I first met the Lidsky family 8 years ago when I photographed Kayta’s sister’s  wedding at the Laredo Country Club. This family is one of the most loving families I have ever met and were a joy to work with.  The Harvard educated, free-spirited, Katya brought her personal touches to her wedding that really set the wedding apart.  The sacred Jewish ceremony took place in the Sunken Garden near the lagoon at Laguna Gloria just at sunset.  It provided a wonderful backdrop for a very personal wedding.  Eric and Kayta read personally written vows to each other.  They even had their special pet beagle, Ophelia, serve as an honor attendant.  N’Yoka Coleman from Clink Weddings coordinated the entire event to assure everything ran smoothly.  The cake was provided by Simon Lee Bakery. Video was done by Esther of Rings and Cake Video.  The catering was provided by Primizie of Austin.  I hope you enjoy the few images below and please click the following link to view all of Kayta’s and Eric’s wedding images.

Check out Anne Marie’s tennis video we did for her at the tennis tournament in Austin this past weekend.

We hadn’t seen my niece in several years so when we heard she was bringing her daughter, AnneMarie, to Austin to play in her first national tennis tournament we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go watch her play. Heather, Carter, Jackson and I couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw this tiny 7 year old girl rip the ball across the net. She was phenomenal! Oh, and did I mention she has juvenile diabetes? YES! She has to stop sometimes 2 or 3 times during a match to check her blood sugar. This little girl is mature beyond her years. She reached the semi-finals in the consolation bracket before losing to a girl 2 years older.

Nancy and Joy tried their hand at photographing Caroline, Heather’s 4th child, in the Pumpkin Patch.  She is a little handful wanting to play in the sea of orange and not smile for grandma.  But I think she did a great job and captured some super images.

This was her 1st venture into the pumpkins.

Incarnate Word’s Mother House Chapel was the site of Marco and Teletha’s wedding.  They were such a wonderful easy-going couple to work with.  Danny Cuellar’s  gorgeous flower arrangements added an elegant touch.  Teletha selected her elegant Vera Wang gown from the Bridal Salon.  As usual the Westin Riverwalk, overseen by Eva made everything run smoothly and provided a dramatic backdrop for beautiful images.  Enjoy a few of the images we captured of Teletha and Marco.  If you’d like to see the complete set of photographs click this link.

Jim Rough of Our Wedding Video wanted to experiment with a new technique and asked for some images to work with.  This is what he came up with.  Pretty nice presentation, don’t you think?
